365 Days of Burpees
In 2020, Patrik Widell started a simple question with a difficult answer: what happens if you do burpees every day for a full year? The plan was clear. Day 1 was 1 burpee. Day 2 was 2. Then one more burpee every day until the year was over.

The original challenge
The challenge started on January 1. The target increased by one burpee each day, which made the beginning feel almost too easy and the final months feel very different. By the end, the year added up to 66,795 burpees.
When it became a real workout
Around 200 burpees per day, the challenge stopped feeling like a quick daily check-in and started feeling like a proper training session. Some days were smooth. Other days required breaking the work into many sets and accepting that the body was tired.
The hardest part was mental
The burpees were demanding, but the mental side became the real test. You still have to show up when it is late, when motivation is low and when the daily number is no longer small. That is where the challenge becomes discipline training.
- Late-night sessions still counted.
- Tired days required slower sets.
- Recovery mattered even without full rest days.
- The streak removed the option to negotiate with the day.
What changed physically
A year of daily burpees improves the movement itself. Push-ups feel stronger, breathing adapts and the body learns the rhythm. The jump, the floor work and the repeated heart-rate spikes all add up.
Why Burpee365 exists now
The original challenge was tracked through personal discipline and public updates. Burpee365 turns that idea into a focused app: choose one burpee run, log each day, protect the streak and keep the history visible.
Should you try it?
A full-year progressive challenge is not the right first step for everyone. Start with a smaller plan if you are new to burpees. The point is not to suffer for the sake of it. The point is to build a repeatable daily proof system.
Frequently asked questions
How many burpees are in the 365-day progressive challenge?
If you start with 1 burpee on Day 1 and add one burpee every day through Day 365, the total is 66,795 burpees.
Is the 365-day burpee challenge beginner-friendly?
The first days are beginner-friendly, but the full year becomes very demanding. Beginners should usually start with a lower-volume challenge first.
What is the biggest lesson from doing burpees every day for a year?
The biggest lesson is that the mental side becomes harder than the movement itself. Showing up every day is the real challenge.
